Yesterday Steve Walker from Walker Metalsmiths joined the Andover art classes! Andover is known for celebrating Celtic Arts for the International Day of Celtic Art on June 9th, so it was an honor to have Mr. Walker help the students learn about various Celtic artists and how to draw Celtic knots! Our WCS students, Olivia and Jake got a special opportunity to learn from Mr. Walker!

Reminder that letters have gone out to the community with more details about our Optimization Study! Important dates to remember: June 13 will be held for community members and June 24th will be held for Faculty and Staff.
Teens are at higher risk for bacterial meningitis, a serious disease of the lining of the brain. One in ten persons with meningococcal disease die despite antibiotics and one in five survivors have long-term issues. The Meningitis vaccine is required for students going into grades 7-11, and a second dose is required for students going into 12th grade. Talk to your doctor about it! We want to keep our students happy and healthy! 💙🤍💙

8th grade Spanish students got the opportunity to do a blind taste test of Coca Cola bottled in Mexico (made with cane sugar) vs. Coca-Cola bottled in the USA (made with high fructose corn syrup). Mrs Coleman also pointed out the difference in volume of the containers, their ingredients, and the material the containers were made of. All-in-all, almost everyone guessed correctly, and it was an eye-opening experience!

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month. Ticks can spread disease. Not all ticks can cause disease and not all bites will make you sick, but as these diseases become more common it's important to learn how to prevent a bite, how to remove a tick and what to do if you think you could have a tick-borne disease. Lyme disease is the most common disease spread by ticks in New York but there are other serious diseases transmitted by ticks.
